In 1966, Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries. At that time, he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift that operated on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" that was used to raise and lower the hoist. This device really impressed a lot of clients and thus, the name was born.
Genie has moved into many new markets, since the need for work platforms and lifts grew. Over time, as the demand for new machines to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself known in numerous new markets. For example, Genie went into production with telehandlers, stick booms, man-lifts, articulated booms and light towers.
Due to the economic downturn in the beginning of the 2000s, Genie decided to acquire a partner who had the same values. They partnered up along with Terex Corporation. This company has a history obtaining equipment manufacturers all over the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
In the first years after the sale, it was decided to maintain the Genie brand name within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, because of the name's solid reputation in the marketplace. Thus, all Genie machines continue to be sold under the Genie brand.
The company takes great pride in listening and taking advise from their customers. Genie has always been continually devoted to improving the efficiency and quality in addition to lessening wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company focuses on offering exceptional support. These are the very work disciplines that have made Genie a trusted brand over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality machines.
The DC and Bi-Energy equipment offered by Genie provide emission-free, quiet operation even in the most delicate work settings. Where the equipment has to be driven significant distances, such as in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the power of a diesel-powered generator with the benefits of a 48V DC machinery.
Compared to any of the various types of aerial platforms, telescopic booms provide greater horizontal reach overall. These machines are ideal for limited access places in construction and other industrial environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been engineered to offer utmost productivity. These machinery provide supreme traction and the drive speed you require in order to travel around the work site and job area.
