Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescopic booms are big industrial machines designed with a straight boom arm which is extendable. The boom is normally located on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are typically used for jobs that require tasks to be carried out at heights which exceed other types of lifts. For example, workers can carry out exterior repairs or renovations on buildings of medium height but utilizing these lifts instead of having the additional work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The boom lift is only designed to hold a single individual. These buckets are better suited to specific tasks such as electrical repair, as opposed to window washing or general maintenance. These lifts are available with both outdoor and indoor tires and come in gas or electric configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces underneath the work platform. These braces squeeze together in order to push the platform straight up. Since these kinds of units must be directly positioned beneath the work site, these units are way more limited in their use compared to boom lifts.
Scissor lifts do, however, offer bigger platforms which allow the operator controlling the lift to access a bigger work surface when the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a problem with these models, as they have to sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are ideal for being used for window installation or cladding, as they provide the personnel with the desired mobility; they are also a good choice for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The boom truck or cherry picker refers to the utility vehicle often used to lift workers for various tasks done at heights. Generally, these types of trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and operates the machine. There is a bucket for where the employee can stand along with an actuator arm for lifting the boom and a winch for lifting.
Cherry pickers could lift employees up to heights which were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to lift both heavy supplies and equipment for one location to another. There are different kinds of cranes which could carry out a variety of purposes. Both of these different types of machines excel at different tasks and are suitable for particular applications and accomplishing particular tasks.
