Inventor Jerome Case founded the company of CASE in Racine, when he began the building of threshing machinery. Later the business gained recognition internationally as the first builder of steam engines for its agricultural application. Eventually, the company grew to become the world's biggest maker of steam engines.
By the year 1912, Case had become established in the construction machinery business. The quickly began to manufacture road building machines like graders and steam rollers. Case grew their construction machine company through various acquisitions, beginning with the American Tractor Corporation during 1957. Case had expanded their company by the middle part of the 1990s to become the leading maker of light-sized to medium-sized construction machinery.
Case merged with the corporation New Holland during the year 1999 and together they became CNH Global. This company became responsible for advertising several of the globe's leading brands of agricultural and construction machines.
