A type of machine in the material handling business which can be used to raise and move loads from one place to another is known as a forklift. Each component of a forklift has a particular function. Different components can be utilized to transport the load either vertically or horizontally.
Mast
The forklift mast refers to all the components which lift and lower the load. There are different kinds of masts utilized for raising loads to different heights: simplex, duplex, triplex and quad.
Power Supply
There are four various ways you could power a forklift: electric, gas, diesel and propane. The battery is located inside the cab underneath the seat. The propane tank is on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on gas and diesel forklifts is underneath the rear of the truck.
Cab
Positioned in the middle of the truck is the forklift cab. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the informational gauges and controls. The gas pedal, steering wheel, tilting controls, brake and lifting controls are all located within the cab.
Frame
Carrying all the biggest forklift parts is the truck frame. This includes the counterweights located at the back that prevents the truck from tipping over when loaded. The frame consists of the overhead guard which protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the axles, wheels and driveshaft.
