How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when using a scissor lift, since the convenience of working and the lift basket's safety provides peace of mind when attempting to carry out tasks that could have otherwise needed working off the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machine make it the right alternative for performing tasks from heights.
The majority of scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries that have been mounted directly onto the equipment. These batteries will have to be charged following a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is a simple task to charge the batteries. This could be carried out without any particular tools or equipment and needs no heavy labor.
So as to prepare the scissor lift for charging, position the machine next to an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated place. After that, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button situated in the lift basket, near the control box or the charger. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Normally, units which are older would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
Then, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in a place that is well ventilated and then plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area while in use, extreme danger can potentially take place.
